Elizabeth Laquidara, Ph.D., CASAC

Credentials: Dr. Laquidara is a Clinical Psychologist, licensed in California, Nevada and Florida. Additionally, she has been credentialed as a Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor in New York since 1985. She has Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Russell Sage College, Troy, New York and a Doctorate from the California School of Professional Psychology, a division of Allient International University, Los Angeles, California. She has worked in criminal justice, family court, university and family counseling centers, and private practice. She has published and completed her doctoral dissertation on eating disorders and adult children of chemically dependent families.

Philosophy: Dr. Laquidara believes in an integrative approach in promoting her clients' mental health and overall wellbeing. She focuses on the individual's own goals upon entering treatment and how they can best achieve them. Consideration is given to mental, emotional, physical, professional and spiritual growth and development. Recovery is viewed as a team approach.

Specialties: Dr. Laquidara's practice is limited to adolescents and adults in an out-patient setting. She works with individuals suffering from depression, anxiety, eating disorders, alcohol and chemical abuse and dependency, victims of childhood abuse, post-traumatic stress, and dissociative disorder.

Methods: Dr. Laquidara uses an integrative approach. After a thorough analysis and agreement on treatment goals, various appropriate approaches are discussed regarding how each effects and facilitates recovery. Some of the techniques include stress reduction, hypnosis, insight, behavioral, and cognitive psychotherapy, as well as psychological, vocational and career. Different techniques may be used at different times within the recovery and healing process, taking into consideration the individual and latest research. Referrals to appropriate professionals are made when indicated.
